'Dressed by Antwerp' with Fashion students

Antwerp has attracted fashion students, designers, companies, shopping and fashion lovers for many decades already. In the new Dressed by Antwerp campaign, Elodie Ouedraogo and Tom Smith, who are both fans of Antwerp fashion, put Antwerp in the spotlight as a fashion capital. The former athlete and the singer of Editors were dressed by master students of our Fashion programme.

Famous fans of Antwerp fashion pose in brand-new designs by three fashion students, namely Shuting Qiu (China), Nick Haemels (Belgium) and Julia Ballardt (Germany), for the Dressed by Antwerp campaign. They are currently finishing their graduate year of their Master’s degree in our fashion department. For many decades now, the academy is one of the world’s most influential fashion schools, producing world-class designers who are appointed to key positions in some of the world’s most prominent fashion houses. Demna Gvasalia is currently employed as the creative director at Balenciaga, Rushemy Botter and partner Lisi Herrebrugh were recently appointed at Nina Ricci and Glenn Martens has received international praise for his Y/Project.

In addition to Elodie Ouedraogo and Tom Smith, Antwerp fashion has plenty of other world-famous fans. Tilda Swinton often wears designs by Haider Ackermann. Kanye West loves Vetements and Martin Margiela. And former First Lady Michelle Obama has already been spotted in creations by Dries Van Noten.

Tom Smith has previously worn designs by Dries Van Noten on stage and has visited his shop/workshop in Antwerp with the band: “I admire the fact that the City of Antwerp puts its fashion scene in the spotlight. It matches the idea I have of the city and the special vibe you feel here: here they embrace less obvious, avant-garde ideas in the arts.”
