Antwerp Queer Choir is looking for ...

Antwerp Queer Choir is looking for voices from the queer community who want to sing together in a choir!

Danny de Jong and Isaak Duerinck, (music) theatre makers and Art Educators in Residence at DE SINGEL in 2023, founded the Antwerp Queer Choir this year.

Between February and April 2023, we will work in rehearsals and workshops towards a performance on Friday 19 May 2023 at a queer happening at DE SINGEL.

Our voice can be an instrument, a signboard, a megaphone, a weapon. As a queer person, how do you handle your voice? Speech and voice therapist Katrien Eerdekens, who works with voices in transition in her practice Find Your Voice, assists us in finding a healthy and personal use of the voice. During the sessions, we seek the power of singing together, while taking individual limits and possibilities into account as much as possible.

Experience in singing/performing or being able to read scores is definitely not a must! We focus on your relationship with your voice and, above all, on having fun and meeting people. Antwerp Queer Choir is a safe place where you can uncompromisingly be yourself and where you can let your (vocal) voice be heard loud and clear.

Participation = free of charge. Rehearsals always take place in Antwerp. If you do not live in Antwerp, your travel expenses may be (partly) reimbursed.

Feel like singing along?

  • Are you between 14 and 104 years old?
  • Are you available on Saturdays 18/02 (12h30-16h), Mondays (19h-21h) 27/02, 06/03, 13/03, 20/03, 03/04, 17/04, 24/04, 01/05, 08/05, 15/05 and 18-19/05 (afternoon-evening)?

The workshops are open to all.
Give us a call if you need additional assistance to participate.
