Assia Bert writes book on Dora van der Groen

Theater legend Dora van der Groen educated five generations of actors, but her teachings and vision have so far remained spoken heritage. Thanks to the book Met open lege handen, Van der Groen's vocabulary is also preserved. Author Assia Bert allows the actress, pedagogue and director to enter into dialogue with her teachers, writer Herman Teirlinck and guru Bhagwan Sree Rajneesh. On Wednesday 2 May, Assia Bert presents the book during a lecture performance at the Antwerp Conservatoire, not coincidentally the place where Dora van der Groen also taught. "Dora compares the receptive attitude of the actor with open empty hands in a river", says Bert. "That was the way I started to carve out her legacy."

The book (in Dutch) is published by Track Report, publication platform of the Royal Academy.
