Walking with Herman Teirlinck

As part of the research project "The Actor of Today and Tomorrow" (2016-2018), Assia Bert focused on the impact of the artistic heritage within the acting program at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. This exploration began with Herman Teirlinck's book "Dramatisch Peripatetikon" (1959). The term "Peripatetikon" signifies teaching through wandering, forming the foundational movement behind this installation.

The pages of the "Dramatic Peripatetikon" materialize as a walking path through the Drama program's classrooms. Thematic routes, marked by coloured lines, guide you along this journey. Select a theme, follow its corresponding path, and you'll encounter various quotes from the "Dramatic Peripatetikon" along the way.

This installation serves as an ongoing dialogue with the text, inviting multiple voices to engage. Want to share something while walking? Use the provided blank cards to share thoughts through writing, drawing.

"Petrichor. Dramatic Peripatetikon" is situated on the fourth floor of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (Beel Hoog). The installation starts from room 435 and is accessible during the school's opening hours.
