Jenny Åkerlund

Jenny Åkerlund (b.1984) is a visual artist whose practice revolves around aspects of time and transformation in relation to visual culture. Informed by disciplines such as astronomy and the history of science, and employing an interdisciplinary approach that includes drawing, glass, and video, her work examines the conditions and limits of visibility, often with a starting point in the hidden micro-histories of archives. 

Åkerlund holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy, her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as GAMPA, Pardubice, International Museum of Surgical Science, Chicago, PRÁM, Prague, Hagströmer Medico-Historical Library, Stockholm, DISPLAY, Parma, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Galerie L’Inlassable, Paris, Goya Curtain, Tokyo, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Pantin and Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago. She has been an
artist in residence at Villa Empain, Brussels, Thinking Tools @ Morpho, Antwerp, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, PRÁM, Prague and Arts Initiative Tokyo (AIT).
