At the age of eight Toon Verdonck (°1993) starts taking classical guitar lessons at the Music Academy of Turnhout, and electric guitar a couple of years later. In 2010, he wins the Antwerp Guitar Festival Competition, which motivates him to pursue higher music studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. He studies with Roland Broux and Johan Fostier and finishes his masters Magna Cum Laude in 2016, and his Teaching Qualification in 2018.
Besides his activity as a soloist he also plays chamber music (with Vonk Guitar Duo he won the competition of the Croatian Omis Guitar Fest). He likes to endeavor into stylistically diverse projects: music theater (‘Waar heb je zolang gezeten’, nominated for the Entry Prize of Boulevard Theaterfestival 2017, ‘s Hertogenbosch, NL) , Orchestral projects (Like The Godfather international tour with European Philharmonea, 2015) and the eleven piece ska-band Bottle of Moonshine.
Toon Verdonck teaches guitar at the Music Academies of Merksem and Ekeren, Antwerp.
