This research project aims to map and analyze a contemporary acting attitude that is specific for the Low Countries, developed by collectives such as Maatschappij Discordia, Tg STAN, De Tijd and Cie de Koe.
Stefaan Van Brabant’s has experience as a theater maker with Cie de Koe and later in his company De Verwondering. He wants to theoretically substantiate this particular conception and practice of playing and drama writing, and use this as a base to develop a manual with acting and writing tools, that actors can use independently, to organize the mental, physical and artistic conditions for this type of theater. In interaction with this theoretical work, Van Brabandt wants to search for an artistic translation of this in his own work with actors / makers and in the training practice with aspiring dramatic artists.
