During the history of music many composers were influenced by the traditional culture, affecting art music. This research project wants to analyze the following five works of composers: I. Fedele - Calimerita, W. Henderickx - Mudra, G. Ligeti - Violin Concerto, T. Takemitsu - November Steps and A. Vasques-Dias - selected works from Desnudo and Lume de Chão. It intends to perceive how the traditional culture influenced music in the late twentieth century and how it can be an influence nowadays. The composers were chosen based on the different cultures with which they are connected and on the particularities in their music.
