Bert Danckaert

Bert Danckaert studied photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KAA) and at the National Higher Institute (HISK) in Antwerp. 

Since the mid-1990s he has been active as a photographer and has shown his work in various solo and group exhibitions in Belgium and abroad.
In addition to his artistic activities, Danckaert writes about photography for various newspapers and magazines (mainly for H ART) and worked as a freelance curator.

He teaches photography at the Academy of Antwerp (KAA). 

Bert Danckaert is a member of Piece of Cake, www.pieceofcakeproject.com, a European collective of photographers. His work is represented by Galerie Laroche/Joncas (Montreal) and Galerie Clairefontaine (Luxembourg).


Bert Danckaert obtained a PhD in the arts in 2014 at the University of Tilburg (NL). 

Bert Danckaert was founder of the research group Thinking Tools and involved in numerous research projects and activities. He is also initiator of international collaborative projects between RAFA and GAFA (academy in Guangzhou, China) and ISA (academy in Havana, Cuba) such as the VLIR-UOS South initiative 'Time Labs'.

Bert Danckaert is coordinator of the photography department.
