Furkan Ak (TR/BE, he/him) is a director, researcher and actor working at the intersection of performance, memory, and technology. He holds an MA in Drama Directing-Writing from RITCS (Brussels) and a BFA in Theatre Acting from Yeditepe University (Istanbul). His practice-as-research approach explores immersive technologies, hauntological dramaturgies, and migration.
Ak’s recent works, 'Ghostly Matters' and 'Rare Sun', use immersive sound and binaural recording techniques to evoke ghostly presences and investigate themes of displacement and urban memory. 'Rare Sun' (2024), his MA graduation project, premiered at KVS and was selected as a finalist for the Roel Verniers Award at Het Theater Festival.
He regularly contributes to international journals and magazines focusing on performing and visual arts. Alongside his directing and research, Ak has performed in TV series and theatre productions. He is currently developing 'Ghostly Places' (2025), a VR performance exploring migration, nocturnal urban spaces, and immersive technology, as part of his ongoing research project 'Ghostly Dramaturgy'.
