Isjtar Vandebroeck is a transdisciplinary artist working at the crossroads of art and digital media. A first-generation native digital artist, he treats the computer as both material and tool - marble, chisel, and lens.
From 2006 to 2011, he was a core member of OKNO, an artist-run collective exploring media, interactivity, and ecology. He experimented with algorithms and networked artworks. In 2011, he co-founded ATK!, creating immersive performances and installations that blend light, sound, and space. Their works transform architectural environments into dynamic sensory experiences.
In 2016, he launched Blue Brute, inspired by the Bluebeard tale. Marking a shift from purely digitally inspired work, the project reconnects with art history. Blue Brute uses live cinema techniques to suggest a narrative through environments, lighting and camera movement. Since 2019, he has been part of CREW, a pioneering VR and performance arts collective, developing acclaimed XR performances like Delirious Departures and Anxious Arrivals.
