Ludo Mariën

Ludo Mariën got his first accordion lessons at the age of 8 from Hein Huysmans. Later he enrolled as the first accordion student at the Kunsthumaniora of Antwerp. For 12 years Roger Eggermont was his teacher. In 1988 he obtained the First Prize accordion at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and three years later he added the Higher Diploma.

In 1989 he became Eggermont's assistant at the Conservatoire and in 1994 he took over his position as main teacher. He also teaches at the music academy of Mol and at the Kunsthumaniora of Antwerp.

Ludo is a much sought-after accordionist, performing as a soloist as well as with harmony, brass band and accordion orchestras, as an accompanist of singing and choirs and as a studio musician. He has been a guest at festivals in Russia, where the absolute top of international accordionists is gathered. In addition, he has performed all over Europe and also in Australia. He released 2 solo CD's, showing his new and surprising repertoire. Ludo not only recorded with marimba specialist Ludwig Albert, with Jorge Castro, Dana Winner and José Carreras, but also recorded music for the Paris Lido and theatre music by Robert Groslot.
