musically? In which way influenced his environment this process? How was it translated on stage and on records? How did he deal with doubts during the artistic process, for example the use of his voice? In which way and how did he co-operate with arrangers and musicians What were his thoughts about his position and relevance in the social debate? How can young musicians and singer-songwriters learn from his artistic and creative work process?

To find answers to these questions, researcher Philippe Cortens and students of the second and third grade ‘Kleinkunst’ at the Royal Conservatoir Antwerp, will reside in the reconstructed artist studio of Wannes Van De Velde at Museum Vleeshuis. Here they’ll have the opportunity to consult and connect 800 objects and documents in situ. During the residency and their research, the students will be assisted by Cortens, curator Dr Timothy De Paepe, docent Patricia Beijsens, and members of the band of Wannes Van De Velde and Vzw Erfgoed, who will be consulted and interviewed about their artistic co-operation with Wannes Van De Velde.
