rewind / remind / rewrite is a polymorphic art based research project where time, space and pedagogy meet through experimental music, sound, writing and film.
It reexplores, questions, criticizes, deconstructs what Anne Penders kept in boxes and bags for 30 years : the necessarily partial (and biased) material of a Phd on Land Art she originally led as an art historian – Xerox copies, polaroids photos, negatives, tape recordings, faxes, letters, notebooks… – aiming to create something new with the same documents. It is about transforming and recycling the very notion of (personal) archive. To use it as a score.
Displace it into experimental music with Katie Porter, transpose it into super 8 movies and poetry, transmit it to younger students. Let others actualise it their own way. Learn from it.
Go back and forth. Use all that material as if it did not belong to her – is it possible?
Pull some strings, dig into what emerges and remix it all. Be disappointed or surprised.
Keep or destroy. As an artist, rebuild something else, write another story.
