ACADEMY OPEN AIR 360°
During 2023 we celebrate the 360th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp!
With our 360° programme, we are taking a closer look at our role as an art school in society.
The third edition of ‘Academy Open Air’ addresses the painter David Teniers II who founded the Academy on 6 July 1663. The empty pedestal in the historic Academy Garden bore the bronze statue of Teniers from 1934 until 1993, when it was moved back to its original location, the Teniersplaats.
FROM MAY TO SEPTEMBER, THREE ARTISTIC INTERVENTIONS WILL REVIVE THE EMPTY PEDESTAL IN THE ACADEMY GARDEN.
18 MAY — Jana Coolen ‘Egg Monument’
21 SEPTEMBER — Wang Tianjiao ‘I Give You Colour Cancan’
14 OCTOBER — Niel de Vries ‘Dear David’
