Bachelor Dance
As a contemporary dancer you are able to redefine. You can create, execute, take initiative and self-educate. You want to be artistically innovative. During projects, you work interdisciplinary with artists from music, theatre or visual arts. You will also get acquainted with dance and diversity during inclusive dance workshops.

Brass Instruments
Brass forms an inherent part of our musical landscape, and it is difficult to imagine a symphony orchestra, brass band, or wind orchestra without a good brass section. Brass players are well-represented elsewhere, too, in a legion of other professional contexts: in brass ensembles, chamber music, musical theatre, and in the teaching of professionals and amateurs. The Bass trajectory of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (a trajectory of the specialization Instrument / vocal studies) is therefore focused on providing the student with broad skills, so that he or she can enter the professional world at a later stage in an independent and flexible manner, whether or not within the traditional orchestral framework.

Conducting
The Royal Conservatoire Antwerp offers tomorrow’s conductors a two-year specialization which further builds on the skills acquired during the Bachelor or Master of Music course. Conducting is a highly demanding discipline which requires very specific competencies: a thorough knowledge of the repertoire, knowledge of complex scores, an excellent ear, sophisticated communication skills, a perfect conducting technique and vital stage presence. The conducting course teaches you the rehearsal techniques, and the analytical and substantive artistic skills to create a considered interpretation and appropriate performance plan, and to put these into effect.

Costume Design
Theatre has become an artistic melting pot where elements from performance art are mixed with visual arts and multimedia. The Costume Design specialisation offers a programme that combines the exploration of the medium 'theatre' with the study of contemporary art.

Drama
Over the years, the Drama programme has proven to be of substantial influence on the international performing arts, both through its alumni and faculty. However, the use of the Dutch language makes the curriculum less accessible to students from outside Flanders or the Netherlands. The curriculum provides three specialisations: Acting, Music creation and performance art, Media, writing and performance art, which each cater to either potential ensemble players of the world repertoire, or to artists performing work (text and/or music) of their own creation.

Fashion
Without the body, there is no fashion. Fashion exists because of it. Through drawing, you find a way for the body to relate to the surrounding reality. That is still the foundation of this specialization.

In Situ³ is a multidimensional and multidisciplinary trajectory (of the specialization Fine Arts), that emphasises two principles; the specific situation and the individual approach. The students investigate various sites, their historic, social and aesthetic context and experiment with various materials and techniques in order to respond as an artist to the circumstances at hand.

In a fast world dominated by digital media, a lot of artists turn to slowing down the (re)production process, and drawing. Unlike purely digital methods, printmaking offers a challenging material component.

To give shape to your environment in a three-dimensional language: that is the core of our sculpture specialization. You explore the most diverse possibilities of structures, colours and textures, from clay, plaster, metal, stone and mixed media.

Graphic design
About the specialization: Graphic design today is a container for many disciplines — layout, system design, publication, illustration, animation, installation, film, photography, book typography, font design, etc. — in which various design tools and production methods are manipulated — from graphic software, drawing tools, cameras and computers, to contemporary press, print, cut, bind, screen and projection technology.

About the specialization: The human need to adorn, whereby jewels and objects are the main means of identification and expression, is universal and timeless. Jewels and portable objects tell a story about status, style and culture of the wearer.

Media, writing and performance art
The study programme for the Media, writing and performance art specialisation is based on three cornerstones or principal disciplines which are part of the course for every student: Stage, Writing, and Media. This specialisation uses as its starting point the acquisition of basic knowledge, skills and reflection for each principal subject individually, and it evolves during the course of the bachelor’s programme to become a specialisation with a more integrated approach.

Music creation and performance art
The Music creation and performance art specialisation shapes and develops students into autonomous performing artists who are able to create and realise music and theatre and all combinations of the two. The starting point is always the unique personality and specific creative and technical skills of the individual student, and these are developed and broadened in the various disciplines during the teaching of this specialisation.

Percussion
Over the last 20 years, the professional percussion world has witnessed a spectacular (r)evolution. The repertoire and the new, contemporary techniques have been fundamentally changed, and professionals are now expected to be multifunctional; from playing in a baroque orchestra to a contemporary ensemble, from a session musician to improvising, from performing as a soloist to being a dedicated teacher. In response to this, the percussion tracetory of the specialization Instrument / vocal studies has developed into a highly-motivated department.

About the specialization: Photography is a rapidly changing medium with a direct social link and relevance. After all, as a photographer you stand in the centre of the world and you work with reality. The photography department of the Royal Academy of Antwerp trains the image makers of tomorrow by familiarizing them with the technical, conceptual and aesthetic aspects of the medium of photography.

Day-care centres, after-school centres and all kinds of other initiatives, as well as young parents, are eagerly looking for a qualitative artistic approach to young children. More and more performing artists are discovering the special musical sensitivity of babies, toddlers and preschoolers and are developing an educational approach for them.
