Yves Senden

Yves Senden (°1965) holds a master's degree in classical philology. He obtained at the conservatory of Antwerp the final degree of new cycle for organ with Stanislas Deriemaeker, as well as first prizes for harmony, practical harmony, music history, chamber music and the certificate for analysis. In 1995 he obtained the final diploma as Performing Musician with Leo Van Doeselaar at the Conservatory of The Hague. In 2009 he obtained the degree of Doctor of Arts (study area Music and Performing Arts) with the dissertation Musical interpretation from the pragmaticism of C.S. Peirce (promotor: Peter De Graeve, co-promotor: Eugeen Schreurs) at the University of Antwerp and the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp (Royal Conservatory), Association Faculty Arts - Literature and Philosophy. 

Yves is actively involved in METRIC, the European project to promote improvisation in education and its Intensive Projects and Joint Modules. 

As an organist, he gives concerts in Belgium and abroad and has made radio recordings. As a pedagogue he is associated with the Royal Conservatories of the AP Hogeschool Antwerp, and the Hogeschool Ghent, and with the academy of Jette. 

As a lecturer, he covers a broad field: talks on composers (Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Dvorak, Mahler, Shostakovich, contemporary music) and thematic subjects (the links between classical rhetoric and music, the CD as a curse and a blessing, music and emotion, musical theft, etc.).
