New, unique collaboration between deSingel and master in Dance

After over 30 years of working and living together, the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and arts campus deSingel have reinvented their partnership by finding each other in a new and profound collaboration for the Master in Dance Programme. From next academic year onwards, the programme will be embedded into the newly founded Research & Development chapter of deSingel.

The master in Dance will be reshaped into a two-year residency programme with a close link to deSingel's artistic programme. Under the curatorships of the dance programmers Karlien Meganck and Michiel Vandevelde and their expertise and knowledge, deSingel plans on contributing to the international reputation of the Master in Dance prorgramme at the Conservatoire and the embedding of the course in the professional field. For deSingel this partnership is a new opportunity to invest in new, international stage talent. Meganck and Vandevelde will be supported by Renata Lamenza, who has been appointed coordinator for the Conservatoire and contact person for the master in Dance residents.

"Throughout our different programmes, we consistently strive for a positive and intensive contact with the professional field. This strategy provides us with valuable advice and gives our students the opportunity in taking their first steps in building their own professional network. We feel this partnership enables us to take this ambition one step further, and we are very pleased about this," says Stefaan De Ruyck (Head School of Arts/Royal Conservatoire Antwerp).
"I myself am extremely pleased by the unique collaboration the Conservatoire and deSingel are entering into for the master in dance programme. Within the framework of the new policy period (2021-2027) of deSingel, we are developing new links with different partners inside and outside of the arts campus. This specific form of collaboration will ensure a lasting contribution to the potential of the arts campus as a breeding ground for talent. As an arts institution, we fully support the talent of tomorrow. With this two-year residency programme we are guiding artists at a crucial moment in the development of their artistic voice", Hendrik Storme (General and artistic director of deSingel).
