Laure Severac

Laure Severac is an Antwerp-based artist whose practice comprises the fields of architecture, fashion, textiles, and crafts. The work begins with an encounter, a sound, a memory, a passage from a book, or a piece of fabric and she links that subject (matter) with another, drawing poetical echoes and unexpected connections. Her practice evolves modest gestures, the execution of elaborated objects, and focus on processes of making.

Laure Severac is currently a member of the ArchiVolt research group at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and teaches knitwear in the fashion department.
She graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, was shortlisted for the H&M Design Awards, was the 2014 recipient of the Christine Mathys Award, the EE-Exclusive Prize, the BVBA32 Prize, the Flanders Fashion Institute Award, and showcased her work at the Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussels.
