Annouk Van Moorsel

Annouk Van Moorsel (1962) studied and graduated at the ‘Stedelijke Normaalschool’ of Antwerp (aggregate lower secondary school physical education, 1983), the Higher Institute for Dance (dance and dance teacher in 1986 and 1996) and the ‘Vrije Universiteit Brussel’ (Degree in clinical psychology, 1991).

She worked as a dancer, choreographer, dance master and dance teacher from 1984 to 2002. From 1987 she was appointed as a dance teacher in part-time education and higher arts education (Hoger Instituut voor Dans). Since 2002 she is the coordinator for dance teacher training. At the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (Artesis Plantijnhogeschool) she has been responsible for quality assurance until 2007. From then on she has been the head of Teacher Training Dance, Drama, and Music. 

As a psychologist/therapist she has worked in her private practice and in the group practice "the Psychologen Associatie" in Mechelen until 2007.

She is co-author of the book 4 je mee?: Initiation classes for 6-year-olds with crossovers to the disciplines drama, dance, music and image (Garant) with co-authors Bob Selderslaghs, Sanne Caluwaerts, and Indra Wolfaert.

Since 2005, she has been closely involved as a promoter and co-promoter in various research projects of the department ‘Royal Conservatoire’ and of the University of Antwerp. Ms. Van Moorsel has been chairwoman of the research group CORPoREAL of the Royal Conservatoire since 2018 whose topics focus on the performing arts, embodiment, and education in the arts. 

She is a member of the institutional board of the Artesis Plantyn Hogeschool, the board of the School of Arts, and of the Academic Council of the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.
