Bart Van Dijck

Bart Van Dijck is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in sculpture and video. His work consists of videos, objects, sculptures, performances, photos, soundtracks, publications, installations and rituals. Often these works intertwine or are part of a bigger project. Shamanism, folklore and contemporary subcultures are his sources of inspiration.
Van Dijck teaches at the sculpture studio of the Academy and is a member of the research group Body and Material Reinvented. In his current research, he explores the tension between artistic and ritual practices. His interest in rites of passage has a strong impact on his current way of working. While questioning traditional ways of presenting art, he now focuses on working with groups, collaborating and using art to create a ritualized space.
