Guy De Mey

Begian tenor guy de Mey, who studied with Erna Spoorenberg, Sir Peter Pears and Eric Tappy can look back on an impressive career with numerous concert  and opera performances throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Israël and Japan, including appearances at ROH Covent Garden as Linfea in Cavalli’s La Calisto under Ivor Bolton, Guillot de Morfontaine in Manon next to Anna Netrebko under Antonio Pappano and as Basilio in Nozze di Figaro ; at La Scala as Tichon in Kat’a Kabanova under Sir J.E. Gardiner and as  Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos under Jeffrey Tate ; at Herkules Hall and the Opera House of Amsterdam as Monsieur Triquet in Euguen Onegin under Mariss Jansons and at Glyndebourne Festival, also as Tanzmeister (Ariadne auf naxos)

Guy de Mey is also well known as a Lieder singer. He appeared in recital in Belgium a.o. at the Operas in Brussels and Antwerp, in Germany, France, the Netherlands, in Israel and the USA.  Memorable were his interpretations of Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin at the Franz Schubert Festival in Denmark and Schubert’s Winterreise at the Flanders Festival.

Guy de Mey has made more than 50 recordings with reputated conductors (John Eliot Gardiner, Ton Koopman, Roger Norrington, Michel Corboz, William Christie, Jordi Savall, Nicholas McGegan, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski...). Several of these recordings were distinguished with international prizes (Grand Prix du Disque, Deutscher Schallplattenpreis, Caecilia Award, Diapason d’Or).
