Katharina Smets is an indepentent radio producer with a background in philosophy, theatre science and philology. She worked for Klara, Radio 1, VPRO, BBC World Service and NPR. She teaches audio storytelling at the department of Drama at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp. Smets coaches news reporters at VRT. In recent years, her work area is changing towards theater and live radio-performance.
In 2015 she collaborated at the production of KOPfKINE of Annelies van Hullebusch and Radio Kiel of Karel Philips, she made an audio guide and the performance Detroit Live for Cultural centre Kortijk, together with Inne Eysermans and she organizes new Luister in het duister evenings for the Flemish-Dutch house deBuren and De Brakke Grond. Katharina Smets presents the Salon der verbeelding in Bozar and makes recordings for Belgian Americans in the USA.
