De Sokkel van Teniers

Track Report 14/02

The empty pedestal of Teniers, with its solitary monumentality and the 19th century garden in which it is located, forms an invitation to students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts to experiment with different media. An extraordinary place where young artists can exert their creativity and further develop their personal ideas.

In the past three years, 19 master's students were selected to create a work for Teniers' pedestal. The posters that announce their project were designed by the students themselves and executed in silkscreen. The participation of students from different specializations has resulted in varied, surprising and unorthodox results. The publication is a reflection of that.

With works by Sehwi Oh, Mathias Goyvaerts, Bardhyl Bardhi Martinaj, Thomas Grödal, Vladimir Slavov, Fenneke Brookhuis, Veroniek Van Samang, Filip Collin, Geert Van Accom, Choi Soonhyun, Florian Mertens, Bram Van Meervelde, Jef Meyer, Quinten Van Essche, Borbala Kormos, Charissa Plasmans, Lori Wollens, Wim Helderweert and Dennis Ramaekers.
