Chris Snik

Chris Snik (°1970) graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 1996, in costume design department. In 1997 she obtained a Postgraduate degree in scenography in Antwerp.
As a costume designer Chris is inspired by literature, current affairs, fashion, art and collaborations. To (un-) dress the body she researches form, texture and techniques and uses that in her designs. With respect for the physiognomy of the performer's body, she plays with the power of clothes to shape the soul of the character.

Chris works for various theatre and dance performances at HETPALEIS, Theater Lantaren Venster (NL), De Maan, Ultima Thule, De Queeste, Barre Weldaad, NTGent, Bl! ndman, Het huis van Bourgondië (NL), Het Gevolg, Toneelgroep Amsterdam (NL), Productiehuis Zeelandia (NL), Theater Stap, Ultima Thule, De Kolonie, De Spelerij, Toneelgroep Maastricht (NL), WArd/waRD, KVS Brussel, Het Nieuwstedelijk. For film projects she worked as a costume designer on the short films of Jan Van Dyck and Karel Tuytschaever.

Currently Chris teaches design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (AP University College) in the department costume design and is head of this department.
