
Bob Selderslaghs (1973) holds a PhD in the arts and works as a teaching artist and researcher in drama in education & education in drama. He graduated from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in 1996 as Master of Drama and immediately began working as an actor and theater maker. He has always combined his artistic work with artistic-educational activities: he has taught in art academies, the high school of performing arts and the arts education sector. From 2008 to 2018 Bob Selderslaghs was coordinator of the Drama Teacher Training Program at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and taught various curricular courses. From 2018 to 2021, he was educational inspector of drama for the Flemish Government. Currently, at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, he coordinates the master's theses of the Educational Master in Music and Performing Arts, conducts postdoctoral research and chairs the research group CORPoREAL. He also teaches 'Introduction to Arts Education' in the educational programmes and 'Research' in Drama.
Bob Selderslaghs published several articles and books on (cross-domain) initiation in the arts and on Mantle of the Expert: a dramatic inquiry approach to learning and teaching that he has been exploring intensively since 2016. In 2022 he received his PhD with the thesis MoE 2.0 - Mantle of the Expert: from dramatic inquiry towards an artistic result in arts education.
